Love Song.

"We knew it was going to bring us here" I said, brushing a long strand of her hair from her face.
"It's just that we never gave it any thought." And I kissed her.

I've been here, here in this snow drift for six months.
the trip was supposed to be a research expedition, A test of the instruments and a examination of our skills as scientists.
As humans...

"You know I love you, Always have..." She looked into me with those eyes.
Soft brown eyes that seemed to hold the promise of life, the fire of passion.
A small shudder rolled under her skin as she looked deep into my eyes.
"I don't know what to do...So long, Wanted to say something. Anything..."

In the distant future I can see a red light flickering.
A warning?
something, I should know this.
What's the answer?

"I want you to live, my love." she said. And she slowly pulled away from me.
"Let me go, Live for me and I will see you again."
she slid away from me, into the mists. Suddenly I am feeling alone, scared.
"NO!" I shout after her form.
"Please, don't go!" I beg.
she turns, her hair slowly surrounding her. "Get up my love, live...For me."

The red light is screaming at me; "ALERT ALERT ALERT".
Snow drift.
Pressure suit keeping me alive, sedated until rescue can arrive.
now the suit is telling me something.
I can hear her softly whispering in my ear "get up my love, get up now!"

I have been watching the clock for the last hour, willing my arm to move.
I think it has been enjoying its vacation.
It doesn't want to move.
I can see the ice on the face shield, a thin layer between me and a horrible poisonous freezing death.
The suit is out of sedatives, The damn thing is running an emergency protocol, powering me up again, I guess rescue is not an option.

"Amy..." I call into the mists.
I can just about see her through the swirling clouds of ammonia.
"Amy, I need you. I can't get up."
She's holding my head in her soft hands, running the tip of her nose across my cheek. "You have to do this alone Vincent, You have to want me enough to live." she kisses me with those soft lips again. I can taste roses.

Two days now. I am standing.
the suit is running a diagnostic.
I know I can live for another six months, but I no longer have any of the drugs that kept me immobile for so long. Sane in this very lonely place.
The hulk is just over the hill, some small hill, 10,000 feet up into the atmosphere. The ship or whats left of it is just waiting for me.
"Amy, I guess this is it." I say as I take a first shaky step up the mountain.
She takes my gloved hand in hers and smiles that all comforting smile.
"Yes my love." she says and smiles.
